8th Grade

Dear Masuda Eighth Grade Families:

We hope that you are doing well during this unique and ever-changing situation.  FVSD remains dedicated to supporting students during school closures by providing Distance Learning Activities.  We understand this is an unsettling time for you and your children, and want to reassure everyone that our entire FVSD staff is committed to continuing to support student learning.

Please know that student work during closures will not be graded, and that our goal is to provide families of middle school students with no more than 30-minutes of learning activities per content area on a daily basis.

Materials Needed:

Please contact Ms. Adams at adamsj@fvsd.us  for assistance with any materials you do not have access to, or for assistance in obtaining an FVSD chromebook to use.

Quick Note to Parents/Caregivers:

Every child is at a different level and works at a different pace. Please adjust and modify the work as needed. Learning at home will look different than it does in our classrooms. Most students work best in the morning hours. You may want to create and post a schedule that works well for your family.

Virtual Connecting:

Academic subjects will be meeting/offering video connections twice weekly.  Students should continue to check their SchoolLoop daily.  Teachers will post sessions as “assignments” which should show up on the students’ calendars.  Alternately, students will receive an email invitation to the session. *Elective/PE will also be meeting--possibly less frequently.

FVSD does not authorize any recording of audio or video, or screen captures of any Distance Learning Activities by students or families.

Final Week District Message

On behalf of the entire FVSD team, we want to share our heartfelt thank you to parents and teachers for the amazing work you have done to support distance learning over the past few months.  We encourage families to continue utilizing the online resources that have been shared to support ongoing learning for your student(s) over the summer.

Final Week Principal Message

Wow, 8th graders!  What a year this has been!  You have overcome so many challenges and learned in so many new ways this school year.  Your resilience has been amazing, and you have really shined!  We are so proud of you and of all that you have accomplished.  Take this summer to rest and relax a little, to get yourself fresh for...HIGH SCHOOL!  You’ve made it!!  You’re official. Stay in touch and let us know what great things you accomplish in the years to come!  AND don’t forget to join us at 10:00 am on Thursday for your virtual promotion.  You have worked so hard; let’s “celebrate” together!

Materials Pickup/Return

Drive through material return for 8th grade is on Tuesday, June 16th.  Enter the parking lot at the front of the school.  You will come by time, alphabetically by last name:  A-K will be 9-10:00am;  L-P will be 10:30-11:30am; Q-Z will be 12-1:00pm.  Please return ALL textbooks from all subjects, library books, teacher/classroom books, Chromebook (if checked out), and musical instrument (if checked out).
