The annual Boom Town event is a highlight of the 3rd-grade curriculum. Each student developed their own "store," creating handmade goods or games to share with their peers. This year’s inventory was especially impressive, featuring:
-
Intricately hand-drawn bookmarks
-
Colorful hand-beaded bracelets
-
Original homemade stickers and crafts
The project teaches students the basics of supply and demand, budgeting, and the "boom" of a growing economy. To make the experience even more authentic, students from other grade levels visited the three classrooms to shop using special Boom Town currency.
Cox was also thrilled to welcome parents into the mix this year! Seeing our families interact with the students and participate in the shopping experience added a special layer of community spirit to the day. Congratulations to these hard-working 3rd-grade Eagles on their successful business ventures!
